Lawyer graduated in Law from Pontificia Universidade Católica do Paraná in 1968, Master in Law in 1979 and Doctor in Law in 1984, both from Pontificia Universidade Católica de São Paulo. Since his early years as a lawyer, Dr. João Casillo has led an intense legal activity in addition to building a solid academic career. He took a number of courses abroad, the main ones being the following courses: Course on Teaching of Comparative Law at the International Faculty of Strasbourg, France in1972; Course at Florida Institute of Technology, Department of Languages, USA in 1976; Course at Harvard University, USA in 1980; Course at the University of Oxford, England, 1981.
He was a professor at Faculdade de Direito de Curitiba, as well as at Pontificia Universidade Católica (PUC) and the Federal University of Paraná, the latter in the bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate programs. Doctor Casillo is author of the books “Mistake as a Vice from Will”, “Damage to the Person and its Indemnification”, “Law and Art – A collection”, “Law and Philately – the art of stamps”. He is a lecturer, having participated in the International Bar Association Conferences: 50th Anniversary Celebration, New York, USA (1977); New Delhi, India (1977); Integration and Infrastructure in the Americas, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (1998); the 2000 Conference, Amsterdam, Netherlands (2000); and San Francisco, USA (2003).
With extensive experience in serving foreign companies, Dr. João Casillo is Legal Director of the Institute of International Relations of Paraná – IRIP, a member of the Brazil-France, Brazil-Germany and Brazil-Italy Chambers of Commerce (all from Paraná) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Curitiba, currently holding the position of Honorary Consul of Belgium in the capital of Paraná. He is a member of IBEF – Brazilian Institute of Finance Executives, IBA – International Bar Association and ABA – American Bar Association, and he is Legal Vice-President and Chairman of the Board of AECIC – Association of Companies of the Industrial Estate of Curitiba, since 03/24/1977.
As a lawyer, Dr. João Casillo has been working in the area of Business Law for over 50 years, providing legal services in the litigation and advisory spheres for national and foreign companies, leading the team of lawyers at Casillo Advogados to date.
For his great contribution to the business and legal development of the State of Paraná, Dr. João Casillo was awarded the following titles: Title of Professor Emeritus at the Curitiba Law School (Faculdade de Direito de Curitiba); Title of Honorary Citizen of Curitiba; Title of Honorary Citizen of Ponta Grossa; Title of Grand Official of the State Order of Pinheiro, granted by the Government of Paraná, awarded with the commendation “Chevalier de l’Ordre de la Couronne”, granted by His Majesty King Albert II of Belgium.
